| Zelensky and Putin |
Ukrainian authorities and their Russian counterparts announced early Saturday that a ceasefire has come into effect after more than a week of intense fighting and battle for the soul of Kyiv. Russian forces were earlier accused by Ukraine of bombing the largest nuclear plant in Europe constituting a serious escalation to the conflict that has claimed so many Ukrainian lives mostly civilians. Mr. Puttin denied targeting the nuclear plant and instead blamed Ukraine for bombing the complex so as to blame it on the Russians.
Hours after the announcement of ceasefire Ukrainian president Mr. Zelensky accused Russian of breaching the truce. He continues to accuse Moscow of targeting civilians in its unjust war against the country. Several Russian soldiers have paid the supreme price for Putin’s expansionist policies. A former KGB spy agent, President Putin has been weary over the years of the demise of the Soviet Union and has been fighting over the years grabbing lands in much of Eastern Europe from his neighbors.
Where do we go from here? Mr. Putin continues to maintain that he is carrying out a special military operation and has seized a number of Ukrainian territories in his bid to alter the map of Ukraine, remove the democratically elected Ukrainian president and possibly replacing it with a puppet of his choice. The war is becoming increasingly costly for Russian having lost personnel and equipment to the battle ready Ukrainian forces. In a televised broadcast Mr. Puttin declared that Ukraine does not exist and is therefore not a country.
