Russian forces have successfully
invaded Ukraine after weeks of tense standoff. Russian President Vladimir Putin
had massed about 150000 troops on the border with Ukraine and consistently
denied planning to invade Ukraine.
However the past week had been
a litmus test for the West's response to Mr. Putin's aggression which initially
started with the annexation of Crimea. hyped by his past victories the Russian
leader moved to quickly unleash tons of missiles on its neighbor insisting it
was carrying out a special military operation and not a war.
Today a new law has come into
effect in Russian that intends to punish for up to 15 years anyone who uses the
word war to describe Russia's aggression and bombardment of civilian homes and
sundry destruction of lives and property.
